Brad Garrett Steps in as Oscar Madison in The Odd Couple Jan. 20-22

Brad Garrett will play Oscar Madison opposite Matthew Broderick's Felix Unger in The Odd Couple from January 20 through January 22. Performances of the revival were canceled on January 18 and January 19 because Nathan Lane, who usually plays Oscar Madison, is suffering from laryngitis. Lane is expected to return on January 24.

Garrett played the role of Murray the Cop in the original cast of this Odd Couple revival. He was also the understudy for the role of Oscar but never went on in that part. Garrett left the production on January 1 at the end of his contract Mike Starr is now playing Murray and returned home to California. He is flying back to New York at the request of Odd Couple producers Ira Pittelman and Emanuel Azenberg in order to perform over the weekend.

A comedian as well as an actor, Garrett is best known for his role as Raymond's brother, Robert Barone, on the hit comedy Everybody Loves Raymond, which completes its run on CBS at the end of this season. For his performance in the show, he has been nominated for four Emmys and received the honor twice. Before Raymond, Garrett appeared on the television shows First Impressions, The Pursuit of Happiness, Seinfeld, Mad About You, Roseanne and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. During his stay with the hit series, he shot the television movie Gleason, in which he played legendary star Jackie Gleason, receiving an Emmy nomination for his performance. His film credits include Sweet and Lowdown, George B, Suicide Kings, Stuart Little 2 and Finding Nemo for which he provided the voice of Bloat.

In addition to the two above-the-title stars, the cast includes Rob Bartlett, Peter Frechette, Olivia d'Abo, Mike Starr, Jessica Stone and Lee Wilkof. The Odd Couple is now scheduled to end its limited engagement at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre on June 4.
